The girl with the sun-dappled face is Ramina Badal, the 21-year-old who was swept over the 317-foot Vernal Falls in Yosemite National Park Wednesday, along with two other friends, while posing for a photograph against the picturesque but perilous backdrop. The three are all presumed dead.

This is a real tragedy. Young people with thier entire lives ahead of them. Unfortunately this is symptomatic of the “Jack Ass” mentality. Young people think they are indestructable and immune from the dangers that plague us older folks. With age and the “school of hard knock” come a certain amount of wisom based on experience. There are reasons for guard rails and signs warning of danger. How much IQ does it take to understand not to get into the water in a raging river that leads to a 300 ft. waterfall.
I pray that God comfort their parents. There can be no greater pain than the loss of a child. I just hope this is a wake up call to some of those “indestructable ones”.
