What a mess I have been dealing with over the past day, not only am I home ill with the flu, some cyber jackass got into my e-mail, sent all my contacts a message saying I was attacked in London, and needed money wired. First off, if you know me, I would not ask for money, second, I would not have lost to a mugger!
I just wonder how often this scheme works? I guess if you contact enough people, one is bound to fall for it. I must have received 10 calls in the first 30 minutes of my account being hacked. Sadly, I can’t send an e-mail to everybody, because my contacts, past drafts, and e-mails, are gone!

Do you think it is one of the local bloggers doing this?
Why would they want your contacts information? Do you think this is a cyber stalking case or just a money scheme?
Thanks for the warning I will be on alert for suspicious E-mails

Money scheme more than likely. I have a buddy at work that the exact same thing happened to. They are just trying to get people to wire money. This should be a death penalty crime!

A friend at church got the exact same email from somebody else as did others in his circle of friends. One took the bait and answered the email, got the information and went to western union to wire the money. The western union agent alerted him to the fact that there was something fishy with this senario and upon investigation they have turned it over to the police. Probably just another Nigerian scam. What was confusing was that it was the email address I had for you in my contact list. Weird.

I’ll check my spam filter. I don’t think I got an E-mail for that.

Someone from Craigslist did try to send spam mail to my contacts but I changed my password immediately!
