I have posted about this jackass before. George Frances Maudlin lives here in Modesto California. I have had some verbal battles with this ass wipe over the years. He would appear on some of the local blogs here, drunk, and would post vile stuff directed at some Christian women, me, and his own daughter. He creates socks puppets, often using my name, or something that relates to me, and my actual personal photo.
He has made personal threats towards me. Actually going as far as to say he had bullets with my name on them. Since he used a screen name, I had no recourse, according to a local police detective. He has also made phone threats towards two women, but again, it can’t be proved that it was him.
The issue I have is that if it was not a fat, old man in his late 50’s, I would have already confronted this piece of crap. Needless to say, I am old school; You talk shit and make threats, you best be able to beck it up. This is kind of a no win situation for me. If I beat the crud out of this guy, something I have a legitimate reason to do; personal threats made against me, and my property, I could be up on elder abuse charges! If I don’t, then I have zero recourse to stop this guy.
I have contacted a local public golf board which he sits on, which seemed to help for a while. But now he post under screen names, instead of using his own. I guess my biggest issue is that cyber-space allows people to act in ways they never would otherwise. Hiding behind a screen seems to make some awful brave.
So what to do? Let’s just say that I am keeping my fingers crossed that I happen to bump into George now that we live in the same town. And seeing that here in America, everybody is treated equal regardless of AGE,race, religion, or creed, I guess the old coot is due a bit of old west justice.

What physically has George done to you?
I thought your plan of giving a dose of the same medicine such as writing blogs or comments about him is the only reasonable and sane thing to do. It’s the cyber world and though you may physically cause damage to him it solves nothing and gets you jail time..
There may be laws to stop any defamation of character but these are civil laws, and proving it is really George behind the keyboard is another matter.
Giving him a dose of his own medicine is the only reasonable response. Create some socks and attack George back if that is the case he was doing that to you.
Also if it is George posting and defaming you and you attack him back he can also turn around and sue you personally. But I think this case will never make it to a court of law since both parties have attacked one another in the past.
As long as you counter his claims and due to his past history as a sock master none of the other bloggers think or believe his defamation is true. Just think of yourself as a Blogging Star so you got the Paparazzi talking about you all the time.
It could be looked at as flattery or envy, George is envious of you…..LOL !

Wayne, it is almost impossible to do anything to a person who uses a sock to defame another. And yes, jail time would be an issue if I were to start something physical. Some people in this world deserve to get their asses’ kicked. George is one of them. As for a dose of his own medicine? The only thing close that I have done was to contact the head of the golf board he sits on, and let her know what he is up to. After I did that, he stopped using his real ID when being a dick.
Envious? You bet he is, but he still needs to be taught that actions have consequences. I will take your advice more than likely though. Luck for George I guess.

John, ditto everything you said. That’s why I stopped posting on the Cornerstone. Robert, as nice a guy as he is, refused to intervene. He allows George Maudlin to post under Fido. Well, when George Maudlin decided to post my picture and say racist things about minorities using my picture, I bailed. I want nothing to do with that. But that’s what happens when moderators allow anything and everything. Take heed, Robert – that’s not the way to run a website. I emailed Robert about it and he didn’t do anything, but he sure stopped the person who was impersonating Bull153. That’s why I post elsewhere, including this website. I respect you as a person, John – and that’s why it’s good to have people moderate comments on a website. Most newspapers do it.

Thanks for the kind words CO. I have really tried to ignore George, but he continues the taunts and using my picture with some of his socks, because he has some false sense of security. I will run into him one day, and speak to him. I will not do anything physical, unless he starts it. And yes, I will be an affirmative action ass kicker! Nobody gets a free pass. Usually, when an old chump is a jackass, he was probably a jackass when he was young!
J.A.S. I know who this guy is. We just happen to blog at a site where it is a full on slamboree! No moderation for the most part. I don’t mind being falsely accused of things, but when my photo is used to try to fool people into thinking it is actually me posting, that becomes a major issue. I am a firm believer in payback are a bbbb….. 🙂 OK, time to go hunt for some recipes to post.

Believe me John I feel your pain. This has been a constant plague for me. Blog impersonators, using others pictures, personal attacks and threats, profanity, obscene cartoons, all of it should be eliminated and could be if the will to do it was there. The Bee had and still have their head up their rear, and Stanford is on this Freedom of Speech crusade. Freedom is not license to cowardly trash others.

Augustine, I echo your sentiments. Every newspaper out there today moderates its online forums, they’re almost obligated to. But it’s unheard of nowadays to just let any and all comments persist without some type of control mechanism. Freedom of speech also comes with responsibility. And that’s why I don’t post on the Cornerstone anymore. George Maudlin decided to post racist, bizarre material using my picture – I’m not having anything to do with that. Sadly, Robert Stanford let it persist, which is unfortunate because he and I had built up a lot of positive rapport. I’m done with the Cornerstone. I’ll only post here on John’s website.

I read another blogger who had received threats. Her police took it seriously and were able to track through the IP?? number. Every computer has it’s own number and you can track right to their address. That should shut him down? Different alias’ etc but they would all have the same IP computer number. I have received anonymous emails. Under the comment listing in Dashboard there is the word anonymous and under it a number like this one I received 41.132.88.67. I punch that into Google and it takes me to various websites that will reverse locate that computer with the IP. Maybe if he knew he could be tracked he would back off.
Also you know you can select an option that will require all comments be approved by you before they get posted on your blog??

CO, I was surprised myself that Stanford allowed that to happen and also that personal attack on you about your personal identity. I have made it clear about that for three years now.
Just to let you know Stanford was thinking about posting some rules, but the damage has been done. I do hope you return someday. Are you sure that is George Maudlin, I have my doubts about it being him…..

John, you’ve put 2&2 together, it’s George indeed. Wayne, how much more obvious can it be? George posted my picture on the Cornerstone when I called him out on several things: 1. I challenge George to identify the source of his writing. 2. I accused him of copyright infringement (not a fun thing, that gets lawyers involved). 3. I challenged him on the veracity of the statements put forth by his daughter that he wasn’t a good father. 4. John has challenged George to put forth evidence that he really is in the Hall of Fame at Fresno State (which he’s not). Wayne, George uses the same type of wording, same patterns, posts the same liberal stuff. If you can’t figure out that for yourself, then the lights are on but nobody’s home.

John, I’ve noticed the great people posting here on your website (more than delusional George can ever say). Also, they’ve got some GREAT recipes. My wife’s a foodie, she seasoned boneless pork chops this past Sunday night with soy sauce, garlic pepper seasoning, and BBQ pork sauce. Needless to say, it turned out great. We pan fried it over medium to high heat for about 2 1/2 minutes each side. Give it a shot! Boneless pork chops are pretty cheap, we had about 6 of them, each was about 3/4 inch to 1 inch thick, I just pan fried it, and it worked out great. Give it a shot, JH. Take care, man.

Eh John, you wouldn’t believe the threats I’ve received. I’m talking some serious shit here. Best thing you can do is report them to their ISP. If this is a stalker as you say, ISPs take that very seriously. I don’t know the history on this so I can’t comment beyond this, but if the person is truly stalking you, they will be looking for a new ISP if you report them.
But mostly, you have to figure if a person spends that much time on you, you have to be important to the person. It could be love, John! lolol. However, if it endangers a person to reveal their identity online, this could be a legal issue in a big way. As you know, I have some pretty powerful attorneys on the blog, so if you want some advice on that, we can get it for you pro bono. That’s not the same as Sonny Bono, John.
Also George has had a lot of hot meals and probably has a BP off the charts. He needs to walk that golf course. Else if he keeps it up, he will drop dead from a stroke. Just saying. I think he’s in my age bracket though, although I definitely am in better shape, and much better looking, but still, I’m gonna getchu for the ‘elderly’ thing. I will think of the appropriate punishment. It will be big, of course.
If I weren’t so depended upon with my 2008 PTSD Democratic readers, I would be manning a food blog right now. But alas, all I get is my blog tab for now. I do have a secret stash blog with tons of my family recipes, but it’s private so I can pull up all the recipes. I could tell you where it is but then I would have to kill you.

Also you need to learn to use the blog blacklist for IP addresses that annoy you. You don’t even have to flush the spam folder, it does it automatically. I find when you ignore pests they get bored. That also goes for the character you have pestering you about The Religion of Many Dead Women. I get those all the time, only they never make it to the forum and no one is the wiser.
Gotta go walk the big dog now. Creepy Crawlies hate big dogs because they know they are about to become a nice snack.

Thanks UW for the info. You are the greatest. I can’t imagine somebody making threats towards you. I mean this in a very nice way when I say it, but I can’t see you being a physical threat to anyone, nor do I see what you write as being such either.
I might take you up on the “Sonny” pro bono offer though. I have a work related situation that I would love to bounce of one of your “Perry Mason” type friends. 🙂
