Of course one must side with the church on this one. But one consideration they seem to miss is that if contraception does not cost more in coverage why wouldn’t they want every possible kind of care available? Then just don’t use it if you care to follow doctrine? If over 90% American Catholics use it anyway why would they not accommodate them? They cover venereal disease and that is acquired by not being monogamous. Will they decline lung cancer treatment because smoking and use of other unhealthy things are sin too?
The bottom line is the federal government should not be in the health care, health provider business. 90% of them do use? If this is true, then they are not true to their beliefs.
It is about our religious liberty, our constitutional right to believe in the tenets of the religion we follow. It is sad that so many Catholics don’t follow Church doctrine. The fact that they don’t doesn’t make it right.
