(Daily Mail) — Nebraska’s new abortion law forced one woman to give birth to her terminally ill, premature baby who she then helplessly held dying in her arms.

With this heartbreaking information [that their baby would not survive] the couple decided to have an abortion to avoid the baby going through any pain.
However a new law in Nebraska, the only one of its kind in America, bars abortion at 20 weeks except in specific situations when the mother’s life is in immediate danger.
The Deavers did not qualify and were not allowed to have an abortion. Instead they were sent home where they had to wait for ten days knowing that when their baby arrived she had no chance of surviving.
After the days of waiting Deaver gave birth to Elizabeth and held her as she struggled for breath and died fifteen minutes later.

So sad for both the child and the parents. Al least it was able to die being loved.

I can’t understand why people adamant against abortion see things in such black and white terms. It is personally distasteful to me esp as a birth control alternative and late term is extremely abhorrent to me. But there are so many circumstances to consider. All hard choices. Perhaps if people are against abortion they should not have one. Then mind their own business. Strangely many of the people against abortion are against welfare to poor families, single mothers and medicaid for children that will never have health insurance and head start programs for poor kids. . I have a granddaughter baptized at a Unity church. The minister said words to the effect that although the child is here with us today it has been an idea in the mind of God from the beginning of time. Now that is truly thought provoking but I will lead the thoughts that my be initiated to the reader. In Islamic countries a woman may get an abortion after counselling and with permission from a priest and a doctor. But the real point is that it is not a woman’s choice, not her body, not her child as all thing belong to Allah.

Carl, I am against federal welfare. I believe local, private entities need to provide help to families in need. And abortion might be a hard choice, it is a choice that should never be made. It is black and white: The unborn are children. No matter how they were concieved, they should never be aborted, even if the mother’s life is at risk. I want to thank you Carl for all your comments at my humblle blog! I have used them in my conversation with friends. 🙂 You rock my brother.
