If you are not a golf geek like myself, you probably don’t have a clue to who Sergio Garcia is. However, Tiger Woods probably rings a bell. Sergio made the typical “Fried Chicken” joke, and now every one has their plad pants in a knot. Here is the conversation on a thread located at the Golf Channel’s web-site. I made the point that if a black guy makes a joke directed at another black dude, all is well. Hell, Black dude can make a joke directed at a white dude, and all is well. But let white guy poke fun at black, brown, yellow, gree, or blue guy, and it is RACIST! Here are some comments and a link.

Nothing more than a bad joke. Golf writers need material. Let Chris Rock make the same type of comment, and the same folks who are ripping Sergio, would be laughing their rears off. Sergio should have made a “porn-star” joke, would have had a better shot at being funny.

because it’s different when a white person does it against a black person.

No, it’s not. Racist language is racist language, regardless of “which” group uses it against the other.

it does matter, because one is entitled to make fun of themselves, but not make fun of others.
this was not racist language, it was a racist remark. that’s why people are tripping up over the “fried chicken” comment, because that in of itself is not racist. it was the context under which he made it.

“entitiled”? That says it all right there.

Really? Sounds like a double standard is in place

At least they did not bring up that watermelon thing.

HA! That was a comment that was made there already:) Thing is, Tiger’s mom is Asian, and I have yet to hear any Asian jokes. Too many folks are hyper-sensitive when it comes to race. I have said many times before when people hear me, and my friends ripping each other, you would swear he hated each other. We always go after each other’s race, moms, looks, ect. If people don’t like it..oh well.

I have always been amazed how silly people can be. In the twenty-first century we have created a society on edge, one that seeks out, no one in which we reward anger, rage, and hurt. People today seek offenses so to justify their anger by the most minor of offense taken and then build to a rage that far exceeds the original offense. It seems that since we have removed the ten from the public view and memory, and stopped teaching a simple thing like sticks and stones we have made things worse, but also we no longer teach our children to ignore the words of ignorant men and women for if one ignores them they fade away. It is when we respond to them that they flourish.. Finally as to race and racism bigots with there hate exist in each group and for myself I do not view humanity as different races for the human race is made of humans who should treat each other humanly. as with all created dogs and cat horses ectra we are humans one race made of many shapes colors sizes and that is a wonderful thing for all of us.

Personally, I’m getting kinda sick of this rubbish. People are so insistent upon their human rights when, bottom line, what the hell difference does it make who says what? If you’re not a wimpy whiner, you’ll take it in your stride and move right along. Take it from whom it comes and all that.
Then again, the world is filled with wimpy whiners of all creeds…
