Know The Hillbilly
Just a conservative hillbilly stuck in California who is slapping down stupid folks with the back-hand of truth.( This is said with a smile on my mug!)
Also, just a simple guy who loves to work out, fish, listen to old country and western music while drinking beer in the back yard. Someday soon I will have an rv so I can spend my summers off anywhere I choose; Probably next to the river with a line soakin’ in the water.
My out look on life: I don’t want nothin’ from the federal governemt other than to be left alone. It would also be nice if they would quit stealin’ the fruits of my labor, and givin’ it to those wo don’t work, or are lookin’ for a handout.
Everybody is welcome here on my Hillbilly porch. I might rant, rave, and melt down at times, but always feel free to hand me a beer, and speak your mind. Then hand me another beer!

Hello conservative Hillbilly,
Your food recipes look real yummy…hope I can find someone to cook them for me. (*sigh, wishful thinking.) Hey, thanks for visiting and the gift you brought–may you find 2012 filled with abundant blessings. 🙂
Jan 02, 2012 @ 12:03:03
Blessing to you too Sunshine. I simply re-post these recipes. I have kinda backed into to this Foodie thing. I got so fired up awhile back because of our nimrod politicians, all dems, and most all repubs, I had to take a break. I started to see how food and politics mix together well, and shazam! Recipes. I wish I could just click, and order, and have the food appear at my door step. 🙂
Jan 14, 2012 @ 12:14:22
Nice to meet you Hillbilly, thanks for visiting my blog. I’ll be stopping by to see what you’re cooking up! Very interesting reading!
Jan 20, 2012 @ 11:00:18
Hey thanks for reblogging one of my posts and following! I am always looking for conservative political content (especially elections this year), so I will be watching for content I can share with my friends. God bless!
Jan 20, 2012 @ 11:05:48
You bet jake. Like I said, you have a good blog. God Bless you too.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 12:05:19

Feb 03, 2012 @ 09:39:36
Thanks for stopping by my blog…at least you’re stuck somewhere nice!!
Feb 03, 2012 @ 11:11:50
Yes I am, though some might not agree! I am an 1.5 hours from the beach, or the mountains. I can fish in the ocean, or in a moutain stream. The downside? A very high rate of drug and gang crime, and a state government that does not reflect my views or values. But like Homer Simpson once said: “Ah, what are you going to do?” 🙂
I really like your blog, makes me wnat to go on vacation right now.
Feb 05, 2012 @ 12:23:33
Well, I am a liberal…live alongside a river where 4 canyons diverge in a rural area of Utah…an extremely conservative state LOL
I love Rock and Roll…but hey, I love people 😀
Rx
Feb 06, 2012 @ 08:24:29
Hello Raven. I luv most folks too! I know I get a bit fired up from time to time, but I am really quite harmless, and can be easily simmered down with free, cold beer!
Feb 06, 2012 @ 18:32:19
Oh I keep cold beer…I will open one up for you while you kick off your shoes and stay awhile 😀
Feb 07, 2012 @ 08:30:44
Thank you kindly, and feel free to open more than 1!:)
Feb 07, 2012 @ 16:41:28
Hillbilly, conservative in California? You have your work cut out for you my, friend! I don’t blame you for not wanting the government for giving the fruits of your labor away, but there are those of us who are TRULY disabled. Can you find it in your heart to cut us a break?
Conservative, me!
Feb 08, 2012 @ 11:11:59

And a cool sense of humor you have too. Cracked me up AND made me go ugh! to read that.
Feb 26, 2012 @ 12:26:53
I just read your Much Ado post. Good stuff. I am very conservative but I get along well with everyone from every where! I am glad I made you go Ugh!…. I think 🙂
Feb 26, 2012 @ 12:34:37
I have some conservative views myself. I’m a southern woman. I can’t help it. Glad you liked the post.
Yep, you’ve planted an image in my head. 🙂
Feb 26, 2012 @ 12:37:11
Southern huh? Lucky you. I hope to visit there some day. Food, fishing, and golf are said to be excellent there.
Feb 26, 2012 @ 20:52:09
Thank you for “hooking” on here @poemsandponderings.wordpress.com. So glad to have you along. I can’t hand you a beer now, but I’ll raise one in your honor as I type..We appear to be kindred spirits.( I drink beer, I’m conservative and I like the old country stuff so much more that today’s, Though the Zac Brown band and Old Crow Medicine Show are pretty damn good) So, in response to your above intro, I will post a poem in your honor in the next day or so, You’ll know it when you see it.
Thanks again for following, I’m on to your blog too.
Feb 27, 2012 @ 08:44:25
That’s really nice of you. I can honestly say I have never had a poem dedicated to me before:)
Feb 28, 2012 @ 23:52:21
Hi, thank you for following my blog (on various subjects, at the moment mainly on birds). You are the 50th person to follow my blog on WordPress. Which amazes me a bit as I am really new to WordPress.

50? You will have double that in no time. Nice to meet you. 🙂
John
Feb 29, 2012 @ 08:05:22
Hi John, I used to blog on Blogsome, which is closing down, and where one cannot “follow” like on WordPress; so, it surprised me here.
Feb 29, 2012 @ 08:17:55
I have met a bunch of nice folks. I have tried to find blogs that differ from mine. The Foodie blogs are awesome and the people are so nice. A lot of food and recipes I never knew about.
Feb 29, 2012 @ 03:09:16

Hi, thanks so much for stopping by and following my blog. I must say, I’m a liberal who loves CA, but I love people even more, and it’s always good to get another person’s opinion. Like your blog.
Feb 29, 2012 @ 07:18:01
Thanks Deborah. And you are welcome to come here anytime. I consider mytself to be very tolerant of differing views, as long as you enjoy cold drinks and good bbq! LOL! 🙂
John
Feb 29, 2012 @ 09:59:16
Of course I do! lol. THanks, John!
Feb 29, 2012 @ 07:26:54
Hi Hillbilly!
Thanks so much for following me and it looks like we have two twinnie friends in common, Autumn and Gabby! They’re the best! I look forward to reading more of your country thoughts (we love country music, too) and I will also follow!
Take care and I love your photo, too!
Lauren 🙂
Feb 29, 2012 @ 08:09:29
Anybody who loves country and western is ok in my book. 🙂 Twinnie friends? I like that term.
Mar 01, 2012 @ 10:24:57
I could get into some country and Western. Where did you grow up? I’m thinking about moving south or west… Maybe even California? Any suggestions?
Mar 01, 2012 @ 11:15:11
I live in central California. I would not move here unless it was to the Sierra foothills. Check out Sonora and Susanville CA. If I could, Nevada,Arizona, Idaho, or New Mexico would be my next home choices.
Mar 05, 2012 @ 15:14:00
You’re not alone! Stuck in So. Cal. myself! Only saving grace is KFI and a handful of rednecks like myself holding the resistance! Great blog brother!
Mar 05, 2012 @ 18:11:03
Thank you so much coowboy. Mighty fine blog you have yourself.
God Bless
John

Apr 11, 2012 @ 09:49:53
If I drink a beer, I’ll probably pass out- can’t stand the stuff!! However, I am a southern transplant and may need to ask you some questions about my southern neighbors. lol Thanks for the follow. p.s. I’m Brooklyn & Liberal from my head top to my shoe bottom!!!
Apr 11, 2012 @ 09:53:57
“Brooklyn and Liberal”? No problem Kiki, I know we can get you in touch with your Inner Hillbilly somehow! 🙂 I get along with everybody. I take it you are not a Yankee’s fan? Hey, I live about an hour from Oakland, and the A’s have been the Yanks farm system for years. 😦
Apr 19, 2012 @ 05:09:03
howdy hillbilly………i live far far away from you in south africa but we too have the same problem……more people on handouts than people that work………USSA…………..UNUNITED SOVIET OF SOUTH AFRICA.

I feel your pain! 🙂 Glad to meet you my friend!
Apr 21, 2012 @ 18:07:40

Apr 22, 2012 @ 09:10:46
cool blog
but i hate beer
it is just if you want to do a moral mistake easily, all you have is to drink and then every thing comes by itself
Apr 23, 2012 @ 09:36:22

Apr 28, 2012 @ 10:28:22
Crap, we are so NOT going to get along. I am going to follow you so I know where you are at all times. 😉
Apr 28, 2012 @ 10:32:39
I get along well with everyone:) I am telling you, if bbq and cold beer were more apart of life, the world would be a better place. It is very nice to meet you and thank you for the follow.
Apr 28, 2012 @ 10:36:12
I enjoy BBQ and when I was growing up we were told to wait until after we hear the gunshot they get you butt up to the barn to help wrap meat. I am still declaring myself a democrat though because the republican currently give me the willys.
Apr 28, 2012 @ 10:43:25
I love the gun shot/dinner bell! I have declared myself independent because the vast majority of all politicians give me the willys.
I am the type of person that can disagree with others’ political views, and then share food, drinks, and good stories. This is also why I like animals so much. They just enjoy our company.
May 04, 2012 @ 12:35:45
Heya, Hillbilly, many thanks for the follow, as I’m new in this sort of thing! 😉 liked this post, though! 😉

May 10, 2012 @ 15:03:49
Well, I am interested!
Signed, the glamorous Dagny Taggart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 🙂
May 10, 2012 @ 15:32:19
OK, gotta ask; What is the glamorous Dagny Taggart? 🙂
May 10, 2012 @ 15:39:41
I am surprised, given your credentials, that you are not well versed in the infamous Dagny Taggart!!! Tsk Tsk Tsk! 🙂 Perhaps you are not Vogue, given your self professed hill billy stature, but a glamorous Dagny Taggart is the non-looter, hard-working, capitalising, entrepreneurial-thinking business girl dressed in Dolce and Gabbana for a dinner party hosted by Lillien Rearden… after the bracelet made from the first pour of Rearden Metal is secured around her wrist. That, is a glamorous Dagny Taggart.
May 10, 2012 @ 15:48:03
Holly toledo! I better stay on my porch till I get up and runnin’ with the big dogs! 🙂 Ya gotta remember I am a California Hillbilly. I am surrounded by serious non rednecks and non hillbillies. But I do the best that I can. 🙂
May 10, 2012 @ 15:52:35
Ayn Rand wrote Atlas Shrugged whilst living in Cali!!! Thus there is no excuse for objectivist ignorance, conservative! 😉
And Toledo? Blech. I’ll only stop there for mediterranean salmon salads whilst road tripping to Chicago with my dog. Here’s proof:
Lunch with a Pistachio, Not the Nut
Okay, I promise that I will leave you alone now, muppet man. 😀
May 14, 2012 @ 23:42:20

May 15, 2012 @ 13:51:42
a pleasure to meet you, hillbilly. I’m sort of a hillbilly myself, living in Jerusalem, which as you might know, is also on the top of a nice hill…
May 15, 2012 @ 13:54:49
Nice to meet you too! Us Hillbillies must stick together!
May 28, 2012 @ 21:47:57
Just getting to know you, Hill Billy. Wow! You got a lot of great stuff here! I’m so sick of politicians, but I hear what you’re saying on “standing on your own two feet”! Thanks for the spot you gave me. It’s great to meet you!
May 28, 2012 @ 21:53:48
You got a great blog Cowboy. I am so tired of politicians, on both sides, messing up our great country. It seems that the further God is removed from our society, the more these elected fools try to become god to us.
It is very nice to meet you too.
God Bless
John
May 28, 2012 @ 22:00:09
So great to hear of someone else that is sick of both sides. That sentiment seems to be growing. Thanks for the encouragement. I think we’re two guys that plan to die with our boots “on”!
May 28, 2012 @ 22:20:28
Boots? Probably more like flip flops! When I know it is my time to go, I plan on digging a hole, placing my lawn chair next to it, along with an ice chest of cold beer, saying a nice long prayer to God, and making sure my dogs are cared for, and let somebody push me in and refill the dirt.:) I can’t ever imagine wanting the government to care for me. That’s what God and family are for.
May 28, 2012 @ 23:32:21
I like your style, Hill Billy.
May 30, 2012 @ 14:46:35
It is so nice to meet you, conservative hillbilly. I look forward to reading your blog.

Just a conservative hillbilly stuck in California who is slapping down liberals and RHINOS with the back-hand of tuth.( This is said with a smile on my mug!)
Also, just a simple guy who loves to work out, fish, listen to old country and western music while drinking beer in the back yard. Someday soon I will have an rv so I can spend my summers off anywhere I choose; Probably next to the river with a line soakin’ in the water.

Jan 24, 2013 @ 13:44:42
Greetings from Australia,
It comes to the stage when you see the moral fabric of society deteriorating before our eyes, with the help of “Our liberal, seemingly compassionate governments”, that one must decide whether to make a stand and speak the truth or “Stick their head in the ground” like an ostrich and pretend things will be alright, while being demonised by those of other opinions. I choose to make a stand and speak the truth. Keep smiling and keep slapping while thinking that someone with a beret in Australia is also smiling. I like you very much because you have character and most of all courage. 🙂
God bless you
“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
Jan 24, 2013 @ 13:55:19
Glad to meet you. Yes, smiling and enjoying life, no matter what, is the key to getting by. I know you folks down under got your troubles too. I think if more people would down a few cold ones together, and bbq up some grub, this world would be better off.
John
Jan 24, 2013 @ 14:07:09
We have a liberal incompetent government that has absolutely screwed our country, spending all of our billions that the previous conservative government had saved up. They talk of global warming and impending doom, but we’ve had cold summers for the past three years and massive floods all over the country. Meanwhile our bills and taxes have been raised and restrictions place on us, effectively for freedom of expression, which in effect “is meant to stop us speaking out about the truth”. Having said all that I might actually enjoy a cold beer tonight and think of one courageous Hillbilly in the United States with a smile on my face.
God bless you
Jan 24, 2013 @ 14:11:02
God bless you too. There is a global pattern here. The same stuff is going down in RSA. Is Foster’s the most popular beer in the country? or is it the best marketed? !
Jan 24, 2013 @ 14:17:46
There is definitely an orchestrated movement by governments in Western Society to break down the moral fabric and foundations of Western Society around the World. This is intentional, that’s for sure, and this whole recession was in itself predetermined. That said I just googled the most popular beers in Australia. 1-XXX Gold, 2- Victoria Bitter, 3- Carlton Draught.
Take care my friend and keep flying the flag of truth, (while holding a beer i the other hand). When one shows courage others will eventually find the dormant courage within their hearts and rally.

I look forward to stopping by your hillbilly porch… Thanks for stopping by our Boondocking campsite. 🙂
Feb 19, 2013 @ 11:13:52
You are most welcome. 🙂
Feb 21, 2013 @ 18:23:25
Okay that’s a lot of beer! lol Thanks for checking out my blog. Speaking ones mind they say is quite liberating! I still struggle with this one! lol Hugs Paula x
Feb 22, 2013 @ 08:18:45
For me, many times speaking “my” mind either takes up the entire day, or an entire 5 seconds! Depends on my attention span that day 🙂
Feb 24, 2013 @ 03:44:04
Haha! x

Hi,
Thanks so much for your recent like of my blog post about “what is your perfect day?” It led me to your interesting blog.
I’m happy to meet a fellow blogger and country music lover.
I am looking forward to reading more of your interesting posts.
Happy blogging!

Hi Nancy,
us classic country fans are losing all the best performers. Losing George is big. I can tell you where I was when Marty Robbins died. Same with Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. We still got Haggard and Kriss Krisstofferson, but the talent is getting mighty slim.
I will be stopping by your blog and checking out more of your post. Us country fans got to srtick together:)

Hey, HB, thanks for visiting my blog and appreciating my over-affable polar bear. Love your relaxed attitude, independent mind, and that you have the confidence to not get your knickers in a twist if folks disagree….very refreshing…doesn’t happen enough on any side of the political/religious spectrum.
I’m allergic to beer. I do like old Country, though, and I caught an 18-inch trout a couple days ago. We have at least that common ground (and the 2nd Amendment, too, I’m guessin’…), but I’ll have to stand by scotch. Ha!
I make a point to only follow art blogs (I just want to look at the pictures :-)), because if I start in on ideas, I’ll never have a life, frankly. But I’m glad you’re out there, keeping the ideas flowing in both (or many) directions! Cheers!
Apr 29, 2013 @ 22:40:32
Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to comment:) I understand how it becomes very easy to spend too many hours on this blogging gig. If I twisted my britches with everyone I don’t see eye to eye with, I would miss out on meeting, and conversing with a lot of great folks. That is why I love beer so much! It is such a uniter of people from differing walks of life… I guess I should use the larger term “Alcohol”. Glad ya caught a fish. How did you cook it up. 🙂
May 02, 2013 @ 19:53:50
We call that being “inclusive.” 🙂 Released the fish. My guy worships Trout gods and doesn’t wish to anger them. That’s why I prefer salmon fishing. Sorry no trout recipe!
May 03, 2013 @ 07:22:53
I am a catch and release guy too. Though I will keep a catfish once in awhile..they are pretty good on the bbq grill!

Hey how are you?
I have my own office now {It’s sooooo small it spurned the – “Your office is sooooooo small jokes – or soon will – tiny.}- and a couple of books on my Airport missionary work (if you can even call it that) – that I am finishing up (for the 1100th time 🙂 ) –
Other things – but I have been waiting all day to write to you – because I took out my kids and had some errands – got your article on my notification on my phone this morning (late I saw it {kids slept in :)}. But that was really a pretty cool thing to come across and then delve into – – to see my friend excelling as a writer – right there on my cell phone in my living room. Trippy. Inspirational is what it really is though – THANK YOU.
Just wanted to say – VERY WELL DONE!
This Hillbilly Blog is really really good.
We need to hook up for a casual noon iced tea or something sometime.
Keep up the good work buddy. Seriously.

Oh yeah – and we need to talk radio at the least. I got several ideas for some debates. We should put something together with Mylinda Mason and a couple other people and discuss building bridges within communities. Seem like it could inspire some “hot” shows!

Love the photos of the lush lawn you posted. If I ever visit the place, I am hitting golf balls barefoot:)
Sep 15, 2013 @ 03:02:37
Haha that lawn is my boss’s pride and joy! We do sometimes have a sneaky game of golf or croquet when no one’s watching though 😉 x

Oct 25, 2013 @ 10:38:25
I am trying Mick, but it gets frustrating at times. I guess this is why God made beer:)
Nov 01, 2013 @ 13:50:51

Hello, C. Hill Billy – our political views are probably a bit different, but I appreciate you visiting Beauty Along the Road and following. I live in an area where self-sufficiency and self-reliance and a “can-do” attitude reign supreme (Alleghany Mountains of VA). I think you would feel right at home here 🙂
Apr 04, 2014 @ 13:35:36
Bet it is gorgeous there! Hey, as long as I have cold beer and good bbq I can get along with anyone 🙂 Life is way too short, and fun to not get along with folks who see things a bit differently.
Apr 04, 2014 @ 16:14:43
Agreed 🙂
May 09, 2014 @ 07:25:28
Nice to meet you Hill Billy.. 🙂 and many thanks for following a Dreamwalker on her quest to enlighten a few folks along her journey.. I like a good old rant now and again myself.. Especially if the Truth is being discussed.. So much miss-information out there… Its time to rattle a few cages and wake a few sleepy eyed people awake to what’s what in the Real World..
Have a relaxing weekend..

I don’t know why you decided to follow my blog as among other things, I’m vegetarian! However, we do have ranting and raving in common, I like blue grass and Johnny Cash and you would always be welcome to a beer on my ‘stead.
Dec 06, 2014 @ 12:07:08
Blue Grass an Johnny C! Does not get any better musically😄
Dec 06, 2014 @ 12:12:13
And you are also a poet. A thumbs up to you. (I hope ‘thumbs up’ means the same in The States as it does in the UK or I’m in trouble)! 🙂
Dec 06, 2014 @ 12:15:31
Never really thought of myself as a poet, though if I get mad enough on the golf course I can sure string some colorful words together. I like you your pictures and art work. And yes thumbs up has the same meaning here in the colonies!
Dec 16, 2014 @ 15:59:10
Hello John how are you? I am curious are you still buddies with Linda? Of course you are. You do know she said all kinds of lies about me on Modbee. Mostly that I was a Marijuana advocate Then she put up a link on the MJ peoples page saying I was friends with them but I was no where on that page listed as a friend or anything else. I wonder why she did all that then put up a link proving I was not affiliated. Interesting things going on there.
Anyway I like your page we have some similar things that we post. Stay the course.
Dec 16, 2014 @ 21:25:56
No I am not. I have not spoken to her in several years. I have figured out she was less than truthful about many things. And you have a great blog too!
Dec 16, 2014 @ 21:33:46
Thanks john I like yours too, She tried a total Character assassination on me but her and a screen name lewis davis showed them selves wrong badly.
Any way Like what your writing good luck with it.
