One of my concerns in the overall debate is that a teen can get an abortion without parental consent.I am against this. They say I am limiting a woman’s choice. No I am not. Let us put aside the right or wrong arguments about abortion. My point of issue here is how do they take away parental rights? This is a very serious invasive surgery. Would they remove an appendix or fix a heart valve on a minor?Woman’s right to choose? A 15 years old is not a woman mature enough to make a qualified decision. Of course the anti abortion want the sonogram in a last ditch effort to get her to change her mind, but don’t they do x-rays and such prior to any abortion? So it is just medical protocol. A dentist will not even clean a minor’s teeth without parental consent !

Carl, very nice point. You shed light on subject I really enjoy discussing: Hypocrisy! Here is another issue. If the girl can abort the child at 15, why can’t she also have the ability to choose the father regardless of his age? Hmmm?

You’re exactly on point, Carl. You draw analogies with other surgeries, which is fine, but there is an even greater point: An abortion is a potentially emotion-changing event for a mother of an unborn child – regardless of age.

As it relates to a teenager who finds herself pregnant and considering an abortion – should she not have those who love her most help her make a decision with which she will have to live the rest of her life?

Some time ago, there was woman on T.V. that had somehow survived an abortion attempt. She was left with Cerebral Palsey and other issues. If this film could be shown to everyone considering an abortion, I believe it would have a huge impact. It did me.
